RHUS TYPHINA - STAGHORN SUMAC - a medium to large, suckering, open shrub reaching 10 to 20 feet in height and forming colonies. The pinnately compound leaves turn orange to red-orange in the fall, fruit clusters are dry and persist well into winter. This plant is similar to smooth sumac but larger in size. Native to the northeast and central U.S.
