PRUNUS SPINOSA - SLOE
- a hardy plum specie native to Asia and Europe. Plant is multi-stemmed, somewhat thorny, and reaches approximately 10 to 12 feet in height. Fruit is dark purple, sour, and about 1/2 inch in diameter, flowers are pink. Sloe has shown good drought tolerance and soil adaptability. Used in wildlife plantings or in multi-row belts, also used to flavor a poplar beverage by those of Irish, English descent.
