ACER SACCHARINUM - SILVER or SOFT MAPLE - a medium to tall, spreading tree reaching 40 to 60 feet in height and spread on favorable sites. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil. Drought and high soil pH intolerant, subject to limb breakage. Subject to winter dieback in the Northern Plains when young. Riparian planting specie.
