                                 Pin Cherry tree

Prunus pennsylvanica – Pin Cherry – A northern, native, cherry specie reaching 15 to 30 feet in height, often multi-stemming and suckering.  Prefers full sun.  Typical white cherry flowers in spring followed by bright red fruit in late summer, taken by birds.  Good wildlife and naturalizing plant.  Native across Canada and the northern U.S. through the Rocky Mountains.  This is a pioneer species on burned or cut over forest lands and as a sunny woodland edge plant.
