Acer rubrum – Red Maple (climatic zone 4) – A medium to large maple native to the upper Midwest, northeast United States and lower southeast Canada.  Reaches 45 to 65 feet in height on favorable sites.  Prefers bottomland type sites with adequate moisture and neutral to acid soil pH.  Not tolerant of soil alkalinity or drought.  Use adaptable seed origins for your area of planting.
