CELASTRUS SCANDENS - BITTERSWEET - A native vine which climbs by twining its stems around tree branches or fences, may reach a height of 20 to 30 feet. Female plants produce fruit in hanging clusters which split open at maturity to reveal showy bright orange-red persistent berries. Native in open woodlands from the eastern U.S. to the prairie states. |
