SAMBUCUS CAERULEA - BLUE ELDERBERRY OR BLUEBERRY ELDER - a medium to large, multi-stemmed, open, spreading shrub to small tree which may reach 18 feet or more in height on favorable sites, 8 to 12 feet in height and spread on typical sites. Large white flower clusters are followed by bright blue to purplish blue fruits in late summer. Valuable wildlife plant occurring throughout the Pacific Northwest east to Montana and scattered throughout the Northern Rocky Mts. |
